Smoking to be banned from all UC campuses
Over the next two years, the University of California is going to ban all tobacco products from its campuses. Students and faculty will be prohibited from lighting a cigarette anywhere on a UC campus. And anywhere is anywhere. This also includes outdoor spaces, parking lots and private residences. Also, no designated smoking areas will be created. The logic for this new rule is to prevent second-hand smoking. This new rule is made possible by a recent law in Sacramento that came into effect on Jan 1st of this year. This new law allows landlords to ban smoking on their properties.
Good news for non-smokers. Bad news for smokers.
